Actually most vehicles are only 1-wheel drive unless they have a locker or similar installed (4x4 would be “2-wheel drive”).

With EVs I think the criticism is valid. The government is selling them at a loss using slave labor and it’s impossible to compete with that. The rest I pretty much agree. There’s too much idiotic “traditionalism” here in the US that’s holding us back in many sectors while countries like China play the long game and will crush us in that area at some point in the future.

Whatever happened to that guy who would include the Creative Commons license as a signature in every comment with the false belief that it would stop anyone from using them to train LLMs?

It’s not EV credits it’s “cap and trade” carbon credits that they’re selling.

Don’t forget about all the searches for #Democrats and the like mysteriously returning zero results.

Or you’re a government with endless funds at your disposal.

I thought that name was already taken by the chasm in between his ears.

They’ve made such a hard right turn it’s insane. It’s not just “super fiscally conservative ideals” but straight up propaganda at this point

Not to criticize you personally for playing devils advocate but fuck this weak ass justification.
This guy is the richest person in the world and he didn’t become that by being some disadvantaged individual who doesn’t understand what he’s doing at times. He knew full well what he was doing. He was grinning the whole fucking time and acts like he knows he’s untouchable.
I agree that I don’t think he wants to ‘round up Jews and exterminate them,’ but I do think he wanted to empower the nut jobs that do believe in that (not just Jews but every Republican enemy) while also drumming up controversy to get everyone talking about him like he’s always done in the past. He thinks this is all a game with few stakes for himself.

When Arco was sued for charging people fees on their debit cards, I got two separate checks for around $70 each. I don’t think I ever paid anywhere near that in $0.35 fees. Every other one had been a scam though.

Same here. I have a media server and just spent an afternoon of my weekend replacing a failed Seagate drive that was only used to to backup my more important files nightly that was purchased maybe 4-5 years ago. In the past 10 years, this is the third failed Seagate drive I’ve encountered (out of 5 total) while I have 9 WD drives that have had zero issues. One of them is even dedicated to torrents with constant R/W that is still chugging along just fine.

This person sounds insane like one of those people who lives in an RV with signs all over it talking about 5G nanobots and how water causes cancer.

I wonder who’s going to get an FBI raid and the threat of life imprisonment for this?

More likely the US government will pay them $125k for their trouble in this “political witchhunt.”

True, but it makes headlines and looks good for the party and that’s all that matters. Actual substance is so overrated.

The difference? American data collection is done for profit, and Chinese data collection is done for control. Pick your poison.
No the difference is that these US companies give the US government a backdoor into everyone’s data (while also harvesting it all for profit) while the Chinese apps don’t in favor of giving the Chinese government a backdoor into everyone’s data. They don’t give a shit about propaganda and brainwashing occurring which is why they’ll allow the app to stay up in the US just so long as it’s an American company controlling it here because then they can install their backdoor for the US government.

Perhaps you’re an AI who only hallucinated a circuit design.

Yes most people use HDDs for this because their speed doesn’t matter when they’re just serving up a single (or even a dozen) huge files at playback speeds. They’re slow for hosting your OS because of the quantity and speed of reads and writes but this isn’t an issue with movies, TV, or music.

Me too but I just don’t see how that’ll be possible without something physical to put it on since studios will likely never give us straight digital files without a bunch of DRM hoops to jump through.
Perhaps they will give us digital files but tied to some service like Amazon or VUDU where you can only watch it through their app after purchasing a copy for as long as the company still holds distribution rights. This has some major pitfalls for the average consumer though since your purchases will be locked into a specific app with some shitty media interface and they’ll only be temporary as companies often holds the rights for a specific period of time.
I imagine it’s possible but it sounds like they’re going after low hanging fruit like streaming sites and it also states that they can’t prevent people from using VPNs to get around the blocking.
