  • Daily usage was fairly high, I was snorting or smoking 4-6 grams a day depending on purity. Which…like… looking back? I’ve got no idea why I’m not dead. Between sleep deprivation, chemical intake, and not eating… definitely should have kicked off.
I’ve been clean off meth for 20 years in May or June this year, and clean off everything else except weed and alcohol for 16 sometime closer to September.
I actually don’t regret a single thing, I would highly advise against doing meth or any other chemical stimulant, but I learned a lot about myself and my breaking point. I regret being a smoker more than anything from that period of my life. I also regret that most of my friends from around then are dead or in jail. Two of us managed to move on and have a normal life, and the rest were either dead before 30, in the clink for another 5-10 or are living off the dole with no further aspirations in life than getting stoned and playing video games.

  • People do not want games to feel like it’s a job […] and while that may be your opinion it’s 1) not everyones opinion and 2) just because the game feels like a job FOR YOU, doesn’t mean that it feels like that for everyone.

Good examples of this is Wurm Online/Unlimited, or OSRS/RS. Personally not too fond of OSRS/RS probably just didn’t get into it at the right time. Wurm though… I’ve got almost 1000hrs into it. When someone asks what I like about it, I can’t even really give a decent answer. The grind is insane, the best way I’ve found to describe it is:
My favourite game where I’m not entirely sure if I’m bored or not.

It’s an absolute slog, everything takes forever, and depending on the server, if you’re not online often enough everything you built decays and crumbles away. And yet I keep playing it, it’s a bit zen, I can log in and mine for 2hrs then sculpt for 2hrs and go to bed relaxed.

  • I was 17 and drunk, had a new pocket knife and saw probably the largest traffic cone I’ve ever seen in my life. The better part of 2m tall(over 6ft), and that cone was asking for a shanking. All fun and games until the lock on the blade failed and the knife closed on my thumb. Walked 4km to the closest 7-11 where I guy I knew worked so I could use the first aid kit. Probably should have gone to the hospital…or at least a GP. Healed up mostly fine, just if I have quite a long gaming session using a controller that thumb will lock bent and I have to force it to unbend…

  • I’ve been getting a lot of play time from Ostranauts.

    From the Steam blurb:

Ostranauts is a hardcore noir space-sim. Manage life aboard your ship, and beware the cost of every decision you make. Scavenge and explore the boneyard. Create, build, and customise your ship.

There’s kinda of a story, more like things are happening in the world. You’re mostly just left to your own devices.

Another game that’s taken up a lot of my 2024 was Baldur’s Gate 3, pretty sure it doesn’t need a short write up though.
