It’s been my understanding that you do not contact Google. You read their docs and you like it. Have I been mistaken?

It’s almost as if it’s better for humans to do human things (like programming). If your tool is incapable of achieving your and your company’s needs, it’s time to ditch the tool.

I would want the superpower of linguistics: the ability to fluently read, speak, and understand any language ever spoken or will be spoken.

I would call my boys to tell them I love them. I would let my ex know that my dog needs to be picked up tomorrow. Then I would eat the remainder of my gummies and go to bed. My dog of course would likely follow and lay beside me as I drift off into nothingness.

Not sure whether it’s a mistake or not, but when I see people being so negative on their profile, I skip. It’s fine to announce your intentions (eg, looking forward a commitment, not looking for a situationship), but if your profile is mainly a list of don’t’s, then that to me screams you’ve still got issues to work through.

Another one are the people who either don’t fill out a profile, or say something trite like “if you want to know, ask”. That makes me think you’re lazy, and expect the other person to do all the work. If you can’t be bothered even a little, then I can’t be bothered even a little.

Don’t live your life to please other people. It’ll make you miserable because there will always be those you can’t please. Instead, define for yourself what a “good vegan” is, and do your best to meet that standard. Everybody is different, and only you know what works for you.

Also, be forgiving of yourself. Everybody makes mistakes; no one is born an expert at anything. The fact that we still bite our tongues while eating is proof of that. So give yourself grace when you make a mistake; learn from it, and become better.

Not sure which side of the argument you’re taking. But, to answer your questions…

how much does it cost tesla to provide API access?

Not as much as they would want you to believe. Most APIs are written once, and only updated if a major change in the backend happens. The majority of any operating costs would go into cloud services, if the telemetry from the car is sent to Tesla first. I don’t own a Tesla, so I don’t know for sure. I would imagine it’s, because that would allow Tesla better metrics on app usage.

Whose? Tesla or the app developers? I’m not against a business making a profit. It’s kind of the point. They provide some sort of service, and as a customer we pay some sort of fee. The problem as I see it, some companies (like Twitter, Reddit, and Tesla for example) are not balancing the age-old “supply and demand” model of economics. Of course that’s my opinion.

Yes, I didn’t account for the transaction fees. But I believe my point still stands. If people find enough value in it, they’d probably pay for it; and that’s why Tesla is charging what they are.

I do agree with you about it being batshit crazy. If it were me, I sure as hell wouldn’t want to pay $15/mo for that. But I try to be a cheapskate where I can.

I hate subscription services. And I hate money-grubbing corps. Especially when they try to profit off of your own data.

That said, this is not that as infeasible as it sounds. The dev for Tessie reportedly has 400k users. That’s roughly $12.50/month per user. Modestly speaking, if the dev charged their users $13/mo, he’d profit $2.4 million per year. For $15/mo, he would profit $12 million per year.

That’s probably what Tesla is hoping their devs would do. And I’m sure a lot of Tesla owners could afford the fee.

I’m old, and curmudgeon, so I say this with much disdain: there are few things that need ”updating” or “multiplayer”, and the terminal is not one of them.

If I may, let me rephrase what givesomefucks said:

Do not focus on the “ bigger picture”; it’s not something that can be easily fixed by you. Instead, focus on smaller things within your bubble of life; e.g., been putting off the laundry? Go do it real quick. All of it: wash, dry, fold, and put away. Been meaning to clean your bathroom for a while? Do it. Wash the counters and the mirror; wipe the toilet down (even the back of the base).

If it helps, make a laundry list of things you need to get done or want to do (they don’t all have to be chores). This will help get them out of your head and organized in a way that you can tackle each b item easier. And while you don’t want to pressure yourself to get them all done “right now”, give yourself reasonable deadlines to help hold yourself accountable.

The idea is to build up these little wins; they feel good when they’re complete, and also enrich your life in some way at the same time. It will also help build up your confidence, as you’ll run out of simple stuff and start focusing on slightly more complex things.
