Uber’s support is an actual nightmare to deal with. I had an issue where they charged me significantly more for an order than the website said. Their support just wouldn’t do anything except go through their script and tell me I’m shit out of luck. They only had someone do something when I complained at them on Twitter.
I’d probably just say something non-pressuring but supportive like “I know with everything that is going on recently that things may be challenging for you right now. If you need anything please don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I’ll support you in any way I can.”
Yeah this is pretty much what I’m doing. My subscriptions are pretty much spaces about my interests that post positive content, and even then I filter out keywords for the bullshit that leaks in. Trying to spend more time reading books and unplugging from the internet. It still feels so hard to avoid the depressing bullshit though.
You don’t become a billionaire by pure luck though, you need to seek out situations that could make you rich and then you need to get incredibly lucky (unless you are born into money of course).
Being the type of person that seeks out becoming that rich is going to have to do it at the expense of others.
Ideally we can use this strategy to our benefit, tell the North American automakers that there needs to be x readily available models of electric cars with minimum specs at a certain price by a specific date or they will open up the market to China who will eat their lunch.
If treating people with respect and standing up for the greater good of an inclusive society that doesn’t villainize people who aren’t harming others is virtue signalling then I wear the title proudly.
Its amazing how quickly these assholes have dropped any sort of facade they were keeping up towards their public image. Yes, surface material and colour can affect the thermal performance of a device. However when it comes to a smartphone with different colours this difference is almost certainly negligible.
Heat is transmitted by 3 methods, conduction, convection and radiation. For radiation heat transfer there are two properties that affect how much heat is transmitted/absorbed by the surface, temperature and emissivity. Generally darker colours have higher emissivity than lighter colours or reflective surfaces, but different colours of a phone are going to be close assuming they are the same material and radiation is a minor component in cooling a phone.
You almost can’t use too little detergent, recommended amounts are actually too much and tend to leave residue. You only need 1-2TBSP to properly clean your clothes.

A lot of those types of goods are priced extremely high compared to the actual cost to manufacture. Lighting is another example of this. You are paying for the design and brand in many cases even though they aren’t built better or with better materials compared to a more moderately priced faucet. High end faucets do have some more expensive components in them than cheaper ones. For example, orings are replaced by ceramic cartridges that feel better. Those changes maybe account for a couple dollars of manufacturing cost though.
It can be frustrating knowing how much stuff costs to manufacture, so often I look at items like this and get frustrated because I know the manufacturer is selling for >10x what it cost to make.
I feel like this can be generalized to AI in general for most people. I still don’t see much usefulness or quality in output in the scenarios where I’ve been exposed to AI LLMs.
10 and 12mm long are the standard screw sizes and you arent likely to find anything off the shelf between it.
Seems like a weird spec, +/-0.5mm is a pretty typical screw length tolerance so the standard 12mmL screw would be within the range I would expect, maybe give that a try.
Primarily, remote control from one PC to another. I’ve got a desktop connected to my speakers but when working from home I want to use my work laptop to control the speakers. Tidal has a version of it that can control media streamer devices, but it is unreliable.
It just frustrates me how nobody is even close to Spotify Connect nor do they seem to be trying to compete with it. Tidal only half does what I need but I have had a number of major issues with it that are making me go back to Spotify.

It sounds like everything in your network is at least gigabit, which means you should practically be able to get at least 920Mbit speeds after the overhead on speedtest. Also try the google and fast.com speedtests as sometimes they show different results. Also do a full reboot on every device on your network just in case.
Your ISP is probably going to tell you that your speeds are “up to 1Gbps” and that getting lower speeds are normal. I’d still push them for not providing speeds within a reasonable limit of what you are paying for. For reference on my connection I can easily get 930Mbps down on my 1Gbps connection probably 90% of the time.
I’ll die on the hill that classic outlook is far better than Gmail and similar web interfaces for email especially if you have long threads or lots of emails.
Also somehow Google’s email search sucks so bad compared to searching in outlook.

PebbleOS was open sourced and now the original founder who hasn’t worked for alphabet for ages wants to build a new device using the now open sourced OS. No way Google can drop support and they have essentially given the code away because they aren’t using it anymore.
